'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range effort from outside the box, and his teammate immediately hammered in the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result sealed an extraordinary turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 deep into the second half. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win earned a upcoming fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way his former team played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has quickly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for his team and nation, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been a remarkable path for the youngster from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he says, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "It was relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
